The 5 minute review for those who are having a sneaky read in work. Or having 5 well deserved minutes on the loo. This review is for you, those who haven’t got time to read a full review.
The gameplayin Cuphead is a simple run n’ gun experience that the main focus is on boss fights, the challenges come from the bosses themselves and even if you have a wealth of experience in this genre, will die a fair few times with each boss, as they have no health bar, multiple stages and no idea how long each phase lasts.. oh and to top it all off you only have 3 hits from each boss before its all over and you have to start again.
There are two modes of difficulty simple and regular regardless of which you choose they are both very tough. There are a few levels of the game where it’s the normal run n’ gun with which you also collect coins you can give to Porkrinds emporium to upgrade your attacks and charms to aid you through the game.
The controls are slick and crisp they are really easy to pick up and are easily adjusted to your play style. You can choose whether to use a controller or a keyboard too.
The 1930s art style is simply amazing with all of it made from scratch and hand drawn, the artists really have some amazing talent, Everything is beautiful, colorful and vibrant.
The audio effects are amazing and really fit the 1930s style that the developers were going for, the sound track is also impressive and you can buy the DLC soundtrack through steam.
If you love a challenge and also slick polished gameplay then look no further! I highly recommend this game.
